Help Your Expats Succeed

As an HR professional, you know that cultural preparation is crucial to the success of your international assignees. But it hasn’t always been easy to give them what they need, when they need it…until now.

CulturalTrainingPassport provides online, comprehensive country-specific courses that build the intercultural skills your expats need to effectively communicate, manage and live in another country. Best of all, it overcomes the barriers to traditional training by being accessible whenever and wherever it's needed, at a tenth of the cost of the average facilitated program.

Make the Most of Your

Your international assignment is one of life’s great adventures. You owe it to yourself to be well prepared for its challenges and opportunities.

Mercer has made a special arrangement with RW3 to bring online cultural skill-building courses to you. They will help you and your family make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Contact with any questions, and don’t forget to inquire internally about getting reimbursed for this critical business expense.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What learning tools and resources are available at CulturalTrainingPassport?
    • All the tools your expats will need to be effective in a new country:
    • A Comprehensive culturally-based country profile
    • A cultural calculator to let each assignee create a personal cultural profile and compare that to norms in their host country
    • A country-specific "Working With" course or a cultural foundation course that teaches the fundamentals of culture and how to work effectively in the host country
    • A scheduling tool that generates a customized schedule for assignees preparing for their relocation, including a calendar and list of common tasks and factors that can reduce the stress and complexity of the moving process
    • A validated online international assignment candidate assessment that allows both assignees and their spouse/partners to identify strengths and areas of challenge that may confront them on an international assignment

  • How much does it cost?
    • CulturalTrainingPassport costs $500 per country, per year, per assignee (and spouse/partner/family). The $500 USD includes the family as well – one entire household may share one access to the site.
  • Do I have to buy a separate account for spouses? How does access work for spouses and families?
    • Only one account is needed per expatriating family. Most of the tools on the site are designed to be taken by individuals, like the Culture Calculator, but they can be reset once another member of the family wishes to complete the assessment. In the case of the SAGE and SAGE for spouses tool, however, there is a separate link for spouses to access the assessment and complete it on their own.
  • How long will subscribed employees have access to the site?
    • The subscription provides one year of access calculated from the activation date of the their subscription.
  • How does the purchasing process work?
    • HR managers can buy account accesses and initiate expats using a simple tool on the site. They can buy account accesses with a credit card and monitor their use on the client dashboard.
    • Individual users can purchase a family license using a credit card.
  • What is the source of your information? How often is it updated?
    • The data on CulturalTrainingPassport draws on the significant resources of both Mercer and RW3 LLC, developed by our team of experienced “interculturalists” and e learning instructional designers. All of our Cultural Profiles are updated on at least an annual review, though our team does update them on a rolling basis as new or changed information comes in.
  • How long do courses take to complete?
    • The "Working With" courses take less than two hours to complete. The Expat Adjustment Cycle course takes about 45 minutes to complete. All other tools are resources that can be explored multiple times and have no specific time requirement. They can be retaken and referenced back to at any time during the year of activation.
  • Can I track and see what my Assignees have done on line?
    • You will be able to see which of your assignees have used the account you purchased for them. You can also see what host countries they chose. We can provide more extensive metric reporting on request. Contact for details.
